How to Erase and Lift Media from LuxArchival® Sanded Art Paper

LuxArchival® Sanded Art Paper is highly erasable, but erasing on a sanded surface is different from erasing on conventional drawing paper.

The important rule is: lift the applied medium rather than rubbing it away.

For dry media such as colored pencil, pastel, graphite, and similar materials, mounting putty works especially well. Gently press the putty onto the area and lift it straight up. Knead the putty to expose a clean surface and repeat as needed.

A kneaded eraser can also be used, although mounting putty generally lifts material more effectively.

Depending on the medium and the staining properties of its pigments, repeated lifting can remove a substantial amount of material and may return the surface nearly to bare LuxArchival®.

Mounting putty can also be used while applied media is still slightly damp. Again, press and lift rather than rubbing across the surface.

Avoid aggressive back-and-forth rubbing with conventional erasers. On LuxArchival®, lifting is generally the cleaner and more effective way to remove applied media.
